Forever a Student

Updated: Nov 5, 2018

I graduated.

Months ago, when I was up until 4 a.m in a cold, empty classroom shuddering from the ridiculous amount of caffeine in my system, I thought that graduation would bring relief.

It hasn't. I'm antsier than I've ever been. I've realized that this isn't a summer vacation. This is adulthood.

I'm the giant towering over my friends

I need to get a job, start paying off loans, save for retirement, grow a mustache - you know, adult stuff. I don't want to float away with my worries. In order to stay focused, I'm challenging myself this summer to tackle one design challenge a day from David Sherwin's "Creative Workshop" (pictured below), one copywriting challenge a week, and one miscellaneous arts and crafts project.

I haven't quite found the right position for me yet, but until I do, I'm going to continue sharpening my mind. In this weird limbo, I've got to keep reminding myself that my self-worth is not determined by employment. I am a phenomenal person and I know exactly what I'm doing. Totally.

After all, I graduated.

I'll post completed challenges on this blog - hold me accountable, internet.
